Out of an abundance of caution, the district will use an AMI Day on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025. District leaders have been monitoring conditions across the district all day and, though things are much improved in many areas, a number of roads remain hazardous and, in quite a few neighborhoods, even impassable. Thank you to our maintenance and custodial team members, who have put great effort into preparing our buildings for staff and students to return. It has been more than 10 years since our community has dealt with a storm like this, and we appreciate their efforts to have campuses ready. High school students and families should watch for an email update from your school tomorrow, Jan. 9. Students Pre-K - 8 are already scheduled to be off Friday for a Records Day. Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, will be a traditional snow day in Fort Zumwalt School District. There will be no school Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, due to inclement weather and road conditions. Just a reminder, this means the day will have to be made up at the end of the school year.

🌟 Mrs. Reed’s 5th-grade class had a blast exploring physical and chemical reactions today by making their own bread and butter! 🍞🧈
Through this hands-on activity, students experienced both physical and chemical changes firsthand. Mixing ingredients and kneading dough was a great way to demonstrate physical changes, while the fermentation and rising of the dough highlighted some fun chemical reactions. Churning cream to make butter was an exciting example of a physical change, where the cream transforms into butter with a little mechanical agitation.

First Grade passports are ready. They are traveling the world and learning about different Christmas traditions. So far they have visited Mexico and Australia. Next week they will be traveling to India, Israel, Germany and learning about Kwanzaa.

Miss Burton’s and Mrs. Hunsel’s 4th graders thrived in a hands-on learning environment where collaborative partnerships played a key role. Using number line diagrams to identify the closest multiples of 1,000, 10,000, and 100,000, students engaged in meaningful discussions, supporting one another in their understanding.
The "Notice and Wonder" strategy sparked curiosity, as students observed patterns and relationships between numbers, sharing their discoveries and asking thoughtful questions. This approach not only reinforced their mathematical thinking but also encouraged deeper engagement.
The combination of hands-on activities and peer collaboration helped these rockstar fourth graders solidify their understanding of multiples while building confidence in their abilities.#proudprincipals
