Read Across America Week 2023

Flint Hill Firebirds just wrapped up Reading Week 2023 as part of the annual Read Across America celebration. Spirit days were all designed to tie in with the theme, "Reading is an Adventure!" In addition to the spirit days, the entire school participated in Stop, Drop, and Read each day and played along with Author Bingo. Mrs. Steger's kindergarten class won the bingo game and will get an extra recess supervised by Ms. Busen later this spring. Each class was also treated to a Mystery Reader during the week. Classroom teachers read several clues about the Mystery Reader and students tried to guess who was coming to share a book with their class.

We hope you enjoy these pictures from our exciting week!

Students enjoyed two different books presented as Story Walks throughout the week. It is always fun to get outside to enjoy a good book! Classes traveled around the Flint Hill campus to read with their class.

Mr. Pflughaupt, a fifth grade teacher, was a mystery reader for Mrs. Cevasco's second grade class on Camping Day. Students were able to cozy up with a blanket while they listened to the story.

Mrs. LaRussa, the Flint Hill art teacher, shared a favorite story with Mrs. Yakimov's second graders.

Mrs. Hughes' third graders enjoyed a story with Mrs. Wrigley, Flint Hill counselor, on Camping Day.

These third grade Firebirds wore their favorite shades of blue, along with sunglasses, as we "sailed away with a good book".

Mrs. Bauer, FHE PE teacher, went on a camping adventure with a first grade friend on Camping Day.

Lots of fun reading adventures happen each and every day at Flint Hill and we particularly enjoyed these Reading Week adventures!
