Hi!  It is my privilege to be the school nurse at FHE and to get to work with all of the AMAZING Firebirds!  My job, and the mission of the FHE clinic, is to keep our students safe and healthy by promoting wellness through education and modeling of healthy habits and behaviors and through preventing illness and injury.  I am always available to treat students when sick or injured.  Additionally, I will perform vision and hearing screenings per district policy and parent request when there is a concern.

A little about me:

I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Truman State University and have been a Registered Nurse since 2004.  I first started working as a school nurse for FZSD in Jan. 2020 at the ECC.  I transferred to the FHE clinic for the 2020-2021 school year and have really enjoyed being a part of the FHE school family.  Prior to school nursing, I worked both at Mercy Hospital and Missouri Baptist Medical Center.  My background before working with the pediatric population was in medical-surgical and oncology nursing.  I am married and have 3 wonderful sons, all of whom attend FZSD schools.  I also have 3 feline “sons.”  = )  I love being active, being outside, playing games with my family, reading, and coffee!

Communication is so important in working together to keep our students and community healthy.  Please call or email me whenever you have questions, concerns, or comments; I’m here to help!  In order to ensure the health of our Firebirds and to prevent the spread of illness, please keep your student(s) home when sick.

Symptoms to keep students home from school for include:

Fever Sore throat Nasal congestion/runny nose

Cough Vomiting Wheezing/difficulty breathing Diarrhea       Redness/discharge from eye     Rash of unknown origin

Also, please notify me if your child is diagnosed with any communicable diseases such as:

Influenza Strep Throat Pink Eye COVID

If your child has been sick, please ensure he/she has been fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication before returning to school.

All student absences should be verified by calling into the office.

You may even call outside school hours and leave a message on the Attendance Line.  School phone number is 636-542-7095.

If your child will be taking medication at school, please fill out the appropriate forms annually (see below).

If your child has certain medical conditions such as food allergies or asthma, please fill out the appropriate forms annually (see below).

I look forward to working together with you to ensure your students have a healthy, safe, successful school year!
