Creating Traditions at FHE
Snowflake.pngAs 2016 comes to a close, it seems appropriate to reflect upon some of the highlights of opening Flint Hill Elementary.  We have had such a strong start with a caring, cohesive staff and wonderful students and parents.  Our fundraising endeavors for playground equipment have been successful, thanks to the dedication of our PTC and staff.  How exciting that our students should be playing on new equipment in the spring months!

We have had family and whole school events to help establish a positive school culture and bring together students, staff, and parents.  From the Trunk or Treat event to Book Fair to the Veterans Day Assembly, we have definitely come together as a community to REACH NEW HEIGHTS!

On December 13, we hosted a Parent Night Out event so our students could enjoy some activities and interact with staff while parents were able to have a little relaxation time. Students had a ball with music, art, p.e., and technology activities.  We expect participation in this event will grow once the word spreads on how much fun it was for students and staff!

The next event we will have to bring our school community together is a winter walk. As teachers, it is important for us to build relationships with our students and build a community of friends. On our last day before our break, we are going to complete a school community activity before we leave. The students will be together from 2:15 to end of day for a few “togetherness” activities. They will have song, magic, watch a teacher contest and maybe see a music friend or two. At the very end of the day, we will all bundle up to take a quiet winter walk as a school. We will listen to the sounds of winter. We might find a treasure or two along the way! We will be finishing with hot cocoa to warm our bones!

We would like to wish all of our Flint Hill families a restful, peaceful, and joyous winter break!
