About Me . . .

Hi.  My name is Mrs. Delaney, and I am the counselor here at Flint Hill Elementary.  I have been in the Fort Zumwalt School District for 23 years.  I have two daughters, both in college and married to high school sweetheart.

What Does a School Counselor Do?
My door is always open for students and parents.  You can find me in Room 1. All visits are confidential.  I go into classrooms and deliver lessons on the following:

--Understanding myself and others
--Learning to take tests, study, and set goals
--Learning to make good decisions
--Getting along with others and coping with personal problems

I also offer small group or individual counseling to students.  The topics that we focus our goals on are:  divorce, social skills, self-esteem, anger management, making decisions, impulse control, and anxiety.  The groups will meet for 30 minutes for eight weeks.  Individual counseling is similar to groups, but with information delivered in a one-on-one setting.

In addition, I help families in need or crisis.  The need or crisis could be financial, personal, or emotional or all three, but together we can work through it!  I can help look for resources or appropriate agencies to assist.

If you are wondering about special education testing or accelerated education testing, I will be the person that initiates that process.  We test in summer and fall.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at my email address or call Flint Hill Elementary.
