School Nurse

Hello.  My name is Wendy Rogers and I have been an RN since 1995 and have been a school nurse for the Fort Zumwalt School District since 2005.  The mission of the Flint Hill Elementary Clinic is to keep our students healthy and safe.  I hope you find the following information helpful.

Question:  When do I keep my child home from school?

Knowing when to send your child to school and when to keep him/her home can be a tough judgment call.  You should consider keeping your child home if any of the following symptoms are observed:

  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Fever (see note below)
  • Severe sore throat or very red throat accompanied by stomach ache
  • Wheezing/difficulty breathing
  • Redness/discharge from eye
  • Uncontrolled or severe coughing
  • Skin problems:  rashes of unknown origins

All student absences should be verified by calling into the office. Please inform the school if your child has a communicable illness, such as strep throat, influenza, etc.!

You may even call outside school hours and leave a message on the Attendance Line.  School phone number is 636-542-7095.

Note on Fevers:
A student with a body temperature of 100.0 or above
and who has additional indications of illness will be sent home. The district recommends that a student with a fever of 101.0 and above remain out of school for 24 hours after fever returns to normal.
